Checking in your device using the Self-Service Portal
JAMF: Mobile Device Management (MDM) system used to configure and manage Apple products such as MacBooks, iPhones, and iPads.
Check-In: The periodic communication between the JAMF server and an endpoint (e.g. MacBook)

Summary: A Jamf Check-in is a routine process where Apple devices communicate with the MDM system, Jamf, which the IT Operations team uses to configure and manage our MacBook and iPad fleet. It's essential to maintain compliance with our technology policies and enforce pre-configured standards. This process helps ensure devices are up-to-date, secure, and aligned with organizational requirements.
Prerequisites:
- Ensure you have a stable internet connection.
You should have the Prospect Schools - Self-Service app installed on your Mac.
Step 1: Launch Self-Service
- On your Mac, locate the Self-Service app. It is typically found in the "Applications" folder or in your Dock. The app icon has the Prospect Schools logo
Click on the Self-Service app icon to launch it.
Step 2: Locate the Device Check-In & run the process
- Find the utilities category located on the left pane, within this category, you should find an option for “Device Check In”. (Alternatively, you can search for “Device Check-In using the search bar)
- Click Check-in and allow some time for the process to run.
Congratulations! You have successfully checked your device into JAMF using Self-Service and the Device Check-In process. This ensures that your device is up-to-date and compliant with our organization's management policies.
